Sudden Intense Craving

Today I was struck by a craving for a McDonald’s Cheeseburger. Instantly my mind vividly imagined the smooth warm bun, the minced onions, pickles, and ketchup in the warm melty plastic cheese. I could smell it, and feel it, and taste it...

This really shocked me because I haven’t had a Mc Donald’s cheeseburger in over 10 years!

This only lasted a few seconds and now I feel really uncomfortable about the experience.

I don’t know what triggered such a lurid memory but its intensity was disturbing....

I'll have to look into that!

I woke up early this morning and did my Yoga DVD!

For breakfast I had and egg white cooked with olive oil on a piece of toast.

I had a mid-morning snack of some light vanilla yogurt.

Lunch was a Lean Cuisine Flatbread sandwich.

Late Afternoon I had another Lean Cuisine Flatbread sandwich (different flavor).

890 calories so far today.

I also took a walk around "the block" after lunch (about a mile).

I'm glad to see comments are back! The McDonald's thing is really weird... I crave it too, sometimes, but I always feel really sick after I eat their burgers, so I just remind myself how I will feel and I don't have it. But it's been less than 10 years for me!

I found out WHY I had that specific craving. I had a very stressful week at work, and getting a happy meal when I was a kid was a very special treat. My brain was trying to find something to make me happy - like when I was little.

Intense food cravings simply reflect a desire for pleasure, relief and self-nurturing; often people who are depressed, anxious, or lonely often report the most intense food cravings due to past strong associations with an unpleasant emotion and using the craved food as a way to "make it all better."

I did not soothe myself with a burger. But that inclination is still a very strong part of my protective parts.

It is SO nice to see people coming together in such a psychologically healthy and productive way!! I felt so lost and frustrated today on my own journey, just feel like I keep taking a giant leap backward for everyone forward. It is so good for me to focus on the brain to body ties and try to outwit my old destructive programming. Thanks Jess. Also, I love that you love your man...I am SO over man-bashing!
