Ordered to Eat 3 Candy Bars a Day

My blood sugar was high on my Gestational Diabetes screening test, so now I have to take the full blown glucose tolerance test.

Here are the instructions to prepare for this test:

YOU ARE TO DO A CARB LOAD FOR 3 DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR TEST YOU ARE TO ADD TO YOUR DIET, 3 CANDY BARS OR 6 SLICES OF BREAD FOR 3 DAYS. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO CANDY ALL 3 DAYS OR BREAD ALL 3 DAYS YOU MAY.
YOU ARE TO HAVE NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK AFTER MIDNIGHT THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR TEST. YOU ARE NOT TO HAVE ANY WATER AFTER MIDNIGHT IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT, THE TEST WILL BE RESCHEDULED.
PLEASE SIGN BELOW THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND FAX BACK TO THE OFFICE.

Yes. I have to eat 3 candy bars or half a dozen piece of bread EXTRA for the next 3 days...

Then nothing by mouth after midnight -- not even water.

When I go in for the test they will give me a sugary drink.

They will then draw my blood every hour for three hours.

Then I will finally be able to DRINK WATER and have some breakfast.

I will find out next week if I truly have Gestational Diabetes.

This is happening on Friday.

Also on Friday we go back in for our third Ultrasound with the Fetal Specialists.

This is the thrid attempt to see if the baby has a neural tube defect.  There is one view they just cannot seem to get because the baby's head is not in a good spot to image.

I'll let you know more when I do!

Jess

I don't mean to be off topic bot this is important. There are bloggers who put out dangerous information. Google will remove a blog is it gets enough complaints. I don't think that is fair because unpopular speech should be protected but turn about is fair play.

Fat Acceptance bloggers flag fitness and weight loss blogs and get them removed. They are a virulent anti health cult of very sick people who prey on others with self esteem issues and teach them how to play the victim.

One of the worst bloggers is www.bigfatdelicious.blogspot.com click the report abuse on her blog and flag this dangerous woman's blog.

Remove her blog before she removes yours.

Thanks

Your blog has been very inspiring. Be ready to feel extremely naseuous at your glucose test. I didn't have to carb load, just fast after midnight, and i threw up after the last blood test.

I am sorry about your troubles with the ultrasound. I had my first baby last year when i was 33, and knew that whatever happened i would be having the baby, so we chose not to do any of the screening tests. Baby was healthy but small at 5 1/2 pounds. I weighed 240 pounds when i got pregnant and was 239 pounds when i gave birth. I am now 253 pounds and am 8 weeks pregnant, so will be working on exercise and eating better to keep from getting heavier.

I hope all goes well for you!
