New Year's Resolutions

Year after year people make commitments on New Year's to lose weight, but very few people actually reach their goals.

It starts with unrealistic beliefs about exercise and weight loss. Then when they don't meet those ideals - they quit completely.

They take the "ALL or NOTHING" approach to weight loss. They either workout everyday and eat from a restricted menu, or they are back to their old ways.

Real weight loss is about sticking with it and making it a lifestyle, not just a "diet."

Diet's don't work.

Gimmicks don't work!

The only way to get healthy and stay healthy is to eat better and move more.

There will be rough days along the way, but that doesn't mean you have failed.
Just keep trying to be healthy and eventually you will get there!!

Wishing you the healthiest and happiest 2009!!

Jess

Yep! Diets suck. They are all restrictive and not much fun at all. But if you change the way you eat entirely and make it good and healthy and tasty then that is fantastic. I did that and it made a world of difference for me. I feel better eating this way. I definitely look better eating this way.

Totally agree. The ones who fail are shooting stars. Going hard and fast and then dying out after a short period of time. Slow, steady and smart is the key.

I would like to support Jess and say once again – a real weight loss must become your lifestyle! No things like –“will start my diet from next Monday, next month and etc”. It should happen now, right away! Yes, it’s hard, but...our imagination can help us a lot! This is how it first happened to me. When being a child, I had an allergy for some food products. I almost forgot about that and could eat everything I wanted, until I got poisoned by some low quality champagne during a New Year party. Since that night the allergy not only became harder, I could eat just a few products. The simplest food. The first two months was a real disaster. Any meal in a family\friends company was a torture as I could feel all the smells, but could eat nothing. In half a year, I noticed that I got used to the food I was eating. I felt myself better. In about 9 month I realized that I can easily stand my mother eating some crispy chicken - I did not care. I knew that my diet did well to me, and I wanted to keep it. Especially because on of the evident results was the loss of weight. It’s been almost 10 years since that great night which was to become a turning point in my life. I got used to that diet, which in fact became my life style. My weight has not changed since then. I eat only simple food; drink only water, or black and green tea. I feel great! But I am a human being, and sometimes do have a temptation to eat something I know would not be healthy for me. At such moments I ‘turn’ on my imagination and recollect the worst moments related to allergy I had in past. You know, it works! And I still feel safe and sound and still have the weight I had 10 years ago!!
